JawbreakerJawbreaker

"Jawbreaker" came to Tabby Town last fall when he was only 5 months old, his face severely beaten, probably with a baseball bat. His eye and tail suffered previous damage. We cared for him the best we could with limited funds and he did quite well, except for constant upper respiratory issues. That's when we discovered a split in the roof of his mouth that allowed bacteria to infiltrate and infect his nasal cavities and sinuses. He needed immediate surgery by specialists.

We headed to Shelter From The Storm, near Madison (who we met when they stepped up in 2010 to help with our 47 purebred cat rescue) to repair his soft palette. They screwed a steel plate into the roof of his mouth. It was a horrible ordeal for Jawbreaker. He was in so much pain that his heart almost gave out. He pulled out his feeding tube and almost choked to death. His mouth was so swollen that he couldn't breathe and they almost lost him again. But they didn't give up on him. He was in an oxygen tent for several days in an induced coma. Jawbreaker was hospitalized for 3 weeks. That was in early April.

Today all is well and our volunteer Steve went to Shelter From The Storm to bring Jawbreaker home. It so happened that Fox 47 TV was at Shelter From The Storm doing a rescue story, and our Jawbreaker and Steve were featured! Here's a link so you can see our incredible boys.... and the best news of all ~ Andrea, one of the gals who took care of Jawbreaker, fell in love with him and she's giving him a new start in her home with another rescued cat and 2 rescued dogs.

Here's the link to the television feature story:

The bill for Jawbreaker came to $1,100. So far we've raised $850 for him, Only $250 to go. Please donate today to help us pay for the surgery that saved his life.... Thank you....

New Therapy Cat Program

We take a cat (or several cats if we get enough volunteers) to a nursing home, assisted living facility, or hospital, and let the residents hold and pet the cats.

"On April 7th, 2010 The Pet Therapy trial session went extremely well! Ditto made it through his one-day probationary period and the joy on the residents' faces was fabulous to see. Ditto got a lot of pets, kisses and strokes today. The Recreation Therapy Supervisor, Kim Scholze, was so happy to finally have a cat visitor."

We rescue orphaned kittens, special-case cats, abused, neglected and unwanted cats, and, as space permits, cats on death row from other shelters.

All cats at Tabby Town USA are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They receive age-appropriate vaccinations, are de-wormed and litterbox trained. All of the cats have been tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV (Feline Aids). They are socialized by loving volunteers and then adopted to their forever homes.

Tabby Town USA, Inc. believes in cat behavioral training instead of declawing, and asks that adopters not declaw their Tabby Town kitties. However, we occasionally have cats for adoption that have been previously declawed.

We understand that for every kitten born, there are innocent cats being euthanized. We believe that we are the voices for those unable to speak, and it is up to us to educate people to spay and neuter their animals to prevent unwanted litters.

Tabby Town USA, Inc.
depends solely upon contributions from caring people and businesses, and every donated dollar is used expressly for the cats in our care. Contributions are tax-deductible in accordance with the laws of the State of Wisconsin.
