TABBY TOWN USA, INC. HISTORY

Tabby Town USA was started by Ted & Marie Glover in Westby, WI back in 2001. Non-profit status was granted to Tabby Town USA in October of 2004. Tabby Town came to be when owner Marie’s son wanted a kitten a few years ago. The family headed off to the local shelter. Turns out there weren’t any kittens, but there was a small female kitty that kept reaching out through the cage, meowing and meowing. She had been at the shelter for 6 weeks after being hit by a car and had a mangled leg. Because of the lack of funds at the local shelter, the cat was unable to see a vet. Marie asked if they could adopt her and was told just to take her. And now "Tripod" is a permanent resident of Tabby Town USA.

Marie had also started working at the animal shelter after that, and discovered it was too painful to see so many cats caged day after day. Marie knew she had to do more for those cats. Slowly but surely, Marie began to house rescued cats in her own home. Finally, in early 2004, Marie quit her job in order to operate the rescue full-time, which is now proudly called Tabby Town USA, Inc.

All cats share the Glover home, which is furnished and maintained for feline comfort. A special room on the 2nd floor is designated as the Nursery for expectant moms and young families. Plans for expansion are in place and funds are desperately needed to complete "Tabby Town West." The remodeled 50' x 50' building will house rescued cats on "death row" from other shelters, as well as abused, neglected and unwanted cats. A separate large colony room will be dedicated to FIV+ cats so they can live out their lives in peace until they're ready to cross the Rainbow Bridge.
